Childhood Favorite

So today on this cold and rainy day the kids are sleeping and I am making one of my childhood favorites Peanut Brittle. I remember around this time of year growing up I could go to my Grandmother's house and get this yummy treat. Last year I pulled out the old recipe and tried my hand at it and did pretty well at making it :). Like my cupcakes, this is a new request from people that I work with as well as my family. Hope it turns out yummy today!

December 2022--Week 4 Meals

  Day 1: Christmas Day!!!  We had the a huge family meal at our house on Christmas Day!  Baked ham, baked beans, mac and cheese...all the fixings!!!  I hope you and your family had a great Christmas!  I know we did!! Cookies for Santa! Leaving their glitter dust so Santa can find the house! Opening presents Christmas morning! Day 2: Lasagna Soup with Breadsticks  It was still really cold in NC the day after Christmas, so what's better than a soup on a cold day?  I tried my hand at the lasagna soup recipe and my family gave this a 4 out of 5!  One thing we noted, we would probably add a little more broth, as the noodles sucked up the juice and it was less of a soup.  This recipe also calls for hot sausage...if you aren't a hot sausage person, this may be a little too spicy.  We are probably going to use mild next time we make it!  Lasagna is one of my favorite Italian meals, so this was a good spin on it! https://barefeetintheki...

Where has the time gone????

So I was thinking the other day, I haven't blogged in a long time, and when I finally got back on (I couldn't even remember my password) I realized that my last post was Oct 20, 2010 and we were hoping the doctor would let us enduce that day.  Well she didn't!  We had our beautiful daughter, Kaitlin Elizabeth on Oct 30, 2010 at 12:20 AM and she is perfect in every way.  Now let's fast forward to the present! We just celebrated Christmas at the Pickett household and it was so much fun!  Last year, Kaitlin really didn't know what was going on...she pretty much slept through the holiday, but not this year!  She will be 14 months on the 30 of this month and she was all into the holiday spirit!  Scott and I decided early that we won't going to go crazy on her gifts, but we did want to get her one big present so we made a list, gave some ideas to the grandparents and went from there.
